The Legacy Awards
The Legacy Awards honor Brazos Valley nurses who are making a difference in the lives of their patients and our community. Excellent nurses are compassionate, innovative leaders and serve as advocates for their patients. However subtle, his or her impact may be profound and with each patient interaction, every nurse leaves a legacy. As key members of the health care team, they are uniquely positioned to make critical observations and deliver patient-centered care.
A call was put out in the Bryan-College Station community asking patients, supervisors, faculty, students and colleagues to nominate a nurse that has made an impact in their life. The college received nominations for more than 50 Brazos Valley nurses, a testament to the high-caliber of nursing professionals living and working in this community.
This year, four nurses were honored for their compassion, innovation and leadership:
- Leadership - Awarded to a nurse who serves as an outstanding preceptor or mentor in a clinical setting.
- Innovation - Awarded to a nurse who further develops the profession by serving as an educator, either in a faculty role or in a professional setting.
- Compassion - Awarded to a nurse who demonstrates exceptional patient-centered care.
- Legacy - Awarded to a graduate of the Texas A&M University College of Nursing who exemplifies leadership, innovation and/or compassion in their current professional role.
