Role of hematopoietic-Jak3 in Hur-mediated regulation of metabolic syndrome.

Metabolic syndrome is a constellation of disturbances, including central obesity and elevated fatty acids and lipoproteins. Janus kinase 3 (Jak 3), a nonreceptor tyrosine kinase, is a key modulator of the metabolic homeostasis of the body. Jak 3 was first discovered as an essential regulator of the immune system, where its role in immunomodulation has been studied extensively. However the intricate mechanistic role of Jak 3 in maintaining the fine balance between pro- and anti- inflammatory cytokines in the context of metabolic syndrome is not known. My research focuses on how Jak 3 mediated transcriptional and post-transcriptional modification regulates the signaling interplay to maintain the homeostasis of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines.
