Welcome to the College of Pharmacy
The Texas A&M Health Science Center Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy, established in 2006 and located on the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus, was created in response to the shortage of pharmacists in South Texas. The College of Pharmacy represents a significant addition to the HSC as the first health-related professional school in South Texas.
The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is a four year degree program where students develop an advanced understanding of science and drug therapy and master patient-care skills.
Admissions Process
The admissions application period begins September 15 through January 15.
Prospective students will receive e-mail confirmations from the Office of Student Affairs upon receipt of their application materials. All admission materials must be postmarked by the deadline of January 15. Please ensure that your e-mail address remains current, should you have a change in your e-mail address, contact the College of Pharmacy immediately.
A $100 non-refundable application fee is required. Submit payment on Touch Net. Should you have problems processing your payment, please contact 361.593.4271 for assistance. Incomplete application packets and those received after the January 15 deadline will not be considered.
Requirements
To apply for admission to the College of Pharmacy, prospective students must meet the following requirements:

- Minimum GPA of 2.75
- Transcripts from each college/university attended *
- A minimum 40% Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT) score
- Confidential recommendations
- Technical Standards for Completion of the Curriculum
Application documents more than six (6) months old at time of submission will not be considered.
* Only upon admission to the TAMHSC College of Pharmacy will students be required to submit official transcripts from institution to institution.
Applicants must be in good academic standing at schools previously attended for admissions consideration.
All prerequisites must be satisfactorily completed prior to entering the Pharmacy Program. Prerequisites may be taken at a 4-year and/or 2-year accredited college/university. Applicants who have earned coursework five or more calendar years prior to applying to the College of Pharmacy, but who have not earned a bachelor’s degree, must retake the prerequisites to be considered for admission.
Course substitutions are not permitted.
PCAT scores more than three years old will not be considered for admission. PCAT scores must be submitted directly from testing center. TAMHSC College of Pharmacy code: #097. January PCAT taken in same year of application period will not be considered as scores will not arrive by the January 15 deadline.

Application Checklist
- All questions on your admissions application should be answered.

- Transcripts from each college/university attended. Do not send electronic transcripts.
- PCAT scores must arrive directly from testing center.
- Three confidential recommendation forms are required from an applicant. Currently or recently enrolled applicants should submit two recommendations from college professors, and one from an employer, advisor, or college or university administrator (mentor or laboratory instructor recommendations are not accepted). Applicants who have been out of college or university for a number of years may submit three recommendations from a combination of the following categories: professors, pharmacists, other health care professionals (e.g., medicine, nursing, dentistry), or current and previous employers. Recommendations should be sent by overnight courier service or mail to the College directly by the reference; however, recommendations given to an applicant by a reference in a sealed envelope addressed to the College may be submitted by the applicant. All students must use the following recommendation form designed exclusively for a professional college.
- Mail transcripts and any supporting materials in one packet (e.g., application addendum, international student credentials evaluation report, recommendation(s) given to an applicant by the reference in a sealed envelope). The packet must be postmarked by January 15 and may be sent by overnight courier service or mail to:

After applying
- E-mail notifications are sent to applicants to confirm receipt of their application materials.
- Applicants selected to interview will be notified by e-mail.
- Interviews are held throughout the month of February.
- Admission offers are made in early March.
- Denial letters are not sent to applicants that were invited to interview, as they are placed on a rank list and an offer can be made anytime between mid-March to late-July.
