Available Faculty Positions

Pharmaceutics Faculty Positions for the Texas A&M Health Science Center in Bryan/College Station, Texas

The Texas A&M Health Science Center Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy in association with the Center for Microencapsulation and Drug Delivery of the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine is seeking dynamic individuals for two tenure-track senior research faculty positions in Bryan/College Station, Texas.


Applications are invited from individuals with experience, demonstrated leadership, and vision to develop research in the areas of pharmaceutics, drug formulations, industrial pharmacy, drug delivery, biopharmaceutics or related areas of product development. The Center for Microencapsulation and Drug Delivery is focused on integrating the discoveries, translational research, and pharmaceutical development of basic scientists, pharmaceutical scientists, and clinicians within the Health Science Center and other components of the Texas A&M System. Therefore, it is essential that the candidates have a broad understanding of drug and vaccine product development and an ability to steer the A&M discoveries into product development with collaborative research and scientific leadership. Candidates selected will have ample opportunities to develop and strengthen a world-class Center for Microencapsulation and Drug Delivery and Pharmaceutical Product Development with additional faculty and research resources/partnerships.

The successful candidates are expected to be well-known leaders with national and international recognition within the general areas of pharmaceutics and product development; have an earned doctorate degree in the related disciplines of pharmaceutics, industrial pharmacy, physical pharmacy, or biopharmaceutics; have a record of very successful grant activities from federal, state, and industrial sources; have an extensive publications record; show evidence of successful mentoring of junior faculty, post docs, and graduate students; and display a demonstrated ability to work with other disciplines, pharmacy industry, and drug regulating agencies.

Besides teaching and mentoring responsibilities for Pharm.D. and graduate students, key deliverables of this position include an ability to develop a strong, well-funded independent research program; develop a new product development center with federal, state, industrial, and institutional grants; recruit and train junior faculty and graduate students; facilitate the discovery and development of therapeutic drugs by faculty within the Texas A&M System; serve as a national and international leader to promote the education and research interests of the College of Pharmacy and College of Medicine within the Texas A&M Health Science Center; and be a champion for pharmaceutical product development in the 21st century.

The Texas A&M Health Science Center (HSC) Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy invites applications for ten full-time, 12-month faculty positions.

The HSC-College of Pharmacy is a state-supported institution located in historic Kingsville, a friendly, safe city of 25,000 that is home to the legendary King Ranch. Corpus Christi and its beaches are just 40 miles to the northeast, and the Mexican border is about 120 miles.

The HSC-Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy was awarded "candidate" status by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education on June 23, 2007. The College is housed in a new, 64,000 square-foot building designed to facilitate the delivery of pharmacy education and the development of independent research. An inaugural cohort of approximately 75 Doctor of Pharmacy students began classes in the fall of 2006. A total of 15 faculty and administrators are now on board or under contract. By the fourth year, the College will have 45 full-time faculty and 20 professional/clerical staff.

Successful candidates will participate in the classroom, laboratory, or experiential education components of the highly innovative, integrated and team-taught Pharm.D. curriculum. All faculty members are expected to contribute to the development of scholarly and research excellence in a new College of Pharmacy. The positions are available immediately and the search will continue until the positions are filled.

 

Department of Pharmacy Practice

Five tenure-track or non-tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant, associate, and full professor levels are available. Candidates are sought in all areas of pharmacy practice, including Cardiology, Internal Medicine, General Medicine, Nutrition, Endocrinology, Neurology and Psychology.

Responsibilities include didactic teaching, establishing a practice site and precepting students on rotation. Didactic responsibility is expected with teaching responsibilities in the pharmacotherapy sequence and pharmaceutical/patient care sequence.

The successful candidate must be eligible for a Texas pharmacist's license, have a Pharm.D. degree from an accredited pharmacy program in the United States, and have residency training and/or extensive clinical experience. Faculty rank and salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Tenure-track applicants should have successful research experience and must demonstrate potential for scholarly productivity.

A part-time (0.4-0.6 FTE), non-tenure, educator-track, faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice is available for an individual who will teach in the Doctor of Pharmacy Program.

A terminal degree—Pharm.D., Ph.D., or M.D.—in the field is required. Qualified applicants should have experience teaching in a doctor of pharmacy program using a variety of teaching methods and curricula innovations and have a strong history of mentoring students. Candidates with ambulatory/primary care expertise and a strong record and interest in patient care, teaching and scholarship are desired. The successful candidate will be a skilled clinician with a knowledge of medication therapy management and patient care in the outpatient setting; who demonstrates excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; possesses excellent teaching skills; and effectively collaborates on and takes leadership in scholarly pursuits.

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Available Research Positions

Postdoctoral Position/Research Scientist in Cardiovascular Pharmacology/Physiology

Applications are invited for a full time post doctoral position / research scientist in the Experimental Cardiology Laboratory at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. with expertise in Cardiovascular Pharmacology/Physiology and evidence of research productivity and creativity. Applicants should have conducted and be an expert in various in-vivo and in-vitro cardiovascular techniques.

The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and assist with setting up techniques in the newly established laboratory as well as contribute to training other laboratory personnel. He or she will collaborate with other faculty members in the college.
